The Go! Team, The Go! Team
[US Version]

Sony, 2005

***1/2

The Go! Team was this summerís most hyped band outside of the mainstream and, until now, the only ways of obtaining their record was either through Bittorrent or to pay the extravagant import price. To those of you who shelled out the dough for the UK version, Iím sorry.  The U.S. version is new and improved with two new songs and a remastering of the entire album.

After listening to the UK version for so long, itís unbelievable to hear the difference between the two.  The two-dimensional Ď80s cartoons and television shows that The Go! Team sample from now engulf your skull in three-dimensional aural madness. The bass is heavier, the treble more appropriate and the production more crisp, making for the most enjoyable Go! Team listening session Iíve ever had. The two added songs are a bonus, but they donít particularly add or take away from the album, as they are obvious unpolished b-sides. It just goes to show that when Sony isnít raping your computer with DRM software, they know how to appropriately treat a record with such obvious quality.
