Fall Guide 2010
Arts & Entertainment to Shake Up the Season

Break out those new shoes or that snazzy new outfit ó itís time to get dressed up and hit the town.

Summer is all about getting outside and casual get-togethers, icy drinks and light, breezy clothes. Just as your wardrobe grows more structured and formal in the fall, so does your fun ó concert halls replace music in the park, holiday-themed dinners replace outdoor food fests, big county fairs replace town-wide old home days. And as the sun sets earlier and earlier, more of our going-out happens in the dark. Nightlife replaces fun in the sun and the glow of neon signs replace those lazy 9 p.m. summer sunsets.

And the director is like a coach who works with the actors but once the show starts has to sit back and watch. The only difference is that once the curtain rises, a director doesnít get to call time out.

LONGSHOTS: Pats open season amid big question marks
By†Dave Long dlong@hippopress.com

The Patriots start the season just in time on Sunday, as it appears we need real games to watch as the Sox play out the string. But if youíre going to do that, it would be wise to ratchet down expectations, because this bunch, as Lloyd Bentsen kind of said in the 1988 vice presidential debate, Iíve seen championship timber and they are not that.
