Thanksgiving three ways
Take out, dine out or cook a meal with some help from the pros
By Linda A. Thompson-Odum news@hippopress.com
The time for another Thanksgiving dinner and now the questions begin: How do I make a turkey? What do I serve with it? Do I really have to cook, or can someone else do it? Is there an acceptable alternative to cooking a whole bird.

THEATER: Mary's new home
Gamache helps long-time theater costumer
By Heidi Masek hmasek@hippopress.com
Mary Selvoski could probably do without the drama she's seen over the past year, although she is in the theater industry. Twice since 2007, she's had to move the thousands of costumes she builds and rents to actors. Friends and family helped search for an affordable place to keep them. |
PEOPLE: Bicycling Concord to Manchester
If she can do it, so can you
Dr. Laura Fry has been interested not only in making sure people are healthy, but also in keeping the environment healthy. Depending on the weather, Fry regularly commutes to the Manchester Community Health Center from Concord via bicycle. It can take as much as an hour and a half, but the mother of two says the exercise and conservation aspect make it well worth it. Along with keeping her Toyota Prius parked in the driveway in favor of two wheels, Fry is the chairwoman of the health center’s green committee. Now 54, Fry worked in family practice for 10 years in Concord. She’s also worked in Chicago and New York and she’s been an avid cyclist since the 1970s. Fry is also working on hiking all of the Northeast’s 4,000-foot mountains before her 60th birthday. |

Lesser-known game consoles are fun too
By John “jaQ” Andrews jandrews@hippopress.com
Nintendo. Xbox. Playstation. Blah, blah, blah.
Who’d’ve thought a three-way game console war would get so dull? Next generation graphics this, innovative interface that. It all gets a little daunting when you just want to do a little button mashing. |
