ART: Artist laureate
David Lamb makes furniture in Canterbury

Canterbury master furniture maker David Lamb is set to be the state’s fifth artist laureate. Gov. John Lynch nominated him to the post and he was confirmed by the Executive Council. He’ll serve in the role through March 2012. Lamb grew up at Canterbury Shaker Village, where he apprenticed with master European cabinet maker Alejandro de la Cruz. LONGSHOTS: NFL Draft winds blow through Foxboro this week

The NFL draft comes our way this week over three days for the first time beginning on Thursday. This one is particularly interesting because the pressure is on Coach B after seeing the gap between his team and others in the AFC East close quite a bit in the last month. That is if there even was one at year’s end.

Burgers, dogs and wings make a stand downtown

A new old-fashioned burger stand has come to Elm Street in Manchester with the opening of the Pattie Shack. Owners Lee Severi and Jim Burns dreamed of their own restaurant as kids, and they’ve chosen Manchester as the place to make the dream happen because of its demographic mix.
