Caucus to showcase history with SNHU exhibition

The Women’s Caucus for Art’s New Hampshire Chapter will celebrate 10 years of history with an exhibition titled “Looking Back/Facing Forward.”

The opening reception for the show is 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb 25, in the gallery in Robert Frost Hall at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). In addition, there will be discussion by the artists in the Walker Auditorium at SNHU on Thursday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m.

The show will explore issues that are of special interest and concern to women artists.  The show was juried by Mara Witzling, professor of Art and Art History at UNH.

“The body — its burdens and its attire, domesticity in both its pleasures and pains, the landscape as a refuge and at risk, are some of the themes that emerged,” Witzling said. “The result is a scintillating exhibition of intellectually provocative and visually stimulating art.”

The Women’s Caucus for Art is a national organization whose mission is to support women in the visual arts profession. The New Hampshire chapter was created in 1995 to create more exhibition and networking opportunities for women in the arts. WCA-NH is one of the largest chapters nationally and offers a wide range of opportunities to its members including exhibitions, art shares, museum/gallery tours and networking activities.

Information about WCA-NH is available at The exhibition is featured  on SNHU’s website at
